19 March 2002....

6.00pm.....  After Rob made me re-pack my suitcases about 5 times to get rid of excess weight!!! (Men just don't understand why women need at least 120 pairs of interchangeable clothes instead of just three) ...  We finally managed to cram our suitcases and backpacks into not one but two cars.

Our destination: Tullamarine airport.

6.45pm.....   Our luggage was checked in with no "weight" hassles what-so-ever and with a pointed "I told you so!!" to Rob, freshly printed boarding passes in hand and tearful family and friends in tow, we made our way through customs and into the airport cafeteria for pre-departure drinks.  We chatted and nodded and promised to look after ourselves, take lots of photos and keep in touch.

7.30pm.....  After prying ourselves out of the clutches of those around us and with one final wave, we entered that magnificent place ...... Duty Free!!!

We browsed for a while and decided to leave duty free shopping till Dubai and then ... all of a sudden .... 8.45pm...... had snuck up on us - that auspicious moment of boarding our plane.

With barely concealed excitement we handed our tickets to the airhostess, squeezed past the aisle and found our window seats, put our hand luggage in the overhead compartment, placed the pillow behind our heads, blankets across our lap and tied the safety belt snugly across our tummies.  We waited for someone to come and occupy the 3rd seat but the seat remained empty.  WOW!!!  not only were we on our way but we also had an empty seat to stretch out on.............  Wooooooooo Hooooooooo...

Europe here we come!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
